Off of My Bookshelves (OOMB)
Hey Everyone!
Tank and I have decided to try something a little different. On Thursdays, we are going to pick a book off of our bookshelves and share it with you! We thought it would be fun to highlight some lovely books that have been out for a while. Plus get more pictures with Tank! Please enjoy and don’t be afraid to share your favorites with us!
For our first OOMB, we are going to talk about The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. This is one of my all time favorites. I first read this book as part of a book club that had joined when I moved to a new city for work. All of the ladies at the book club actually read the book. I tell you what, that did not ever happen!
We give this a 4 paws rating. If Tank had more paws, I'm sure it would be more.

First of all the cover is just beautiful! With the man and the woman in silhouette to the striped circus tent, the cover just drew me in. It's so simple yet so elegant!
The story itself can be tedious but not in a bad way. The author takes her time sculpting the plot line. It is one of those books that I pick up some new details every time I reread it. I feel gets better at the reread. Mainly because I knew where the story was going so I can focus on the details. The scenery is just so beautiful, and magic is enthralling. It's one of those books that you need to have time to enjoy her artistry of building a magical world!
Book Blurb from Goodreads:
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.
Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.
I love this idea. This book sounds really good, I am definitely intrigued!
